Federal Unemployment and Pandemic Benefits Expire September 5

On September 5, several unemployment benefit programs designed to help during the COVID-19 crisis will end. Programs that will expire are:

  • Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA): Provided benefits for workers who are not typically eligible for UC, like gig workers and the self-employed.
  • Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC): Provided additional weeks of UC, beyond 26 weeks.
  • $300 Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compenation (FPUC): Provided an additional $300 per week to people enrolled in UC.
  • $100 Mixed Earner Unemployment Compensation (MEUC): Provided an additional $100 per week to certain self-employed individuals.
