2020 PA VITA Guide available

VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) is an IRS program that people who earn less than $56,000 per year can use to get their taxes prepared for free. To find a location near you and make an appointment, check out our 2020 VITA Guide.

About VITA:

Low to middle income workers have access to the refundable Earned Income Tax Credit. For parents, the Child Tax Credit also helps offset the cost of childcare. To access these tax credits and keep more of your hard-earned money, you must file a federal income tax return. There are a couple of free tax preparation options some people qualify for which will also save an average of $210 tax preparation fee. It also offers assistance in filing taxes to those who are disabled, elderly, or those who are limited in their English speaking abilities. Certified volunteers provide free services for those who qualify.

Anyone with an annual income of $66,000 or less can access free income tax preparation online through myfreetaxes.com. This service will prepare your federal and state income tax returns for free by asking users a series of questions which will assure an accurate tax filing.
