PA 211 Mobilizes to Serve Erie Community During Snow Emergency

When a historic lake-effect snowstorm blanketed Erie County in early December, PA 211 served as a vital connection point for residents in need of assistance, responding to over 1,400 requests. Most of these requests focused on snow removal with additional needs surrounding shopping assistance, winter storm-related support, and other essential services.

With Millcreek Township under a Snow Emergency Declaration and hazardous conditions across Erie County, Governor Shapiro’s disaster declaration brought additional support to the area; however, residents still struggled to manage the storm’s overwhelming impact. PA 211 worked closely with local emergency services to gather information about residents’ needs, referring individuals to available resources and triaging requests to share with emergency responders and community organization actively working in the field.

“During emergencies, PA 211 is here to connect individuals to help and relief,” said Emily Aubele, Vice President of PA 211. “We were proud to be a trusted partner in times of crisis, helping Pennsylvanians navigate challenges and access support.”

In addition to gathering information related to snow-removal needs and passing this to emergency responders on the ground, PA 211 facilitated 598 referrals to community organizations for other needs. Once Erie County officials were prepared to take over non-emergency storm response, PA 211 transitioned information to local agencies, ensuring continuity of care for those still in need.

In times of crisis, PA 211 stands ready to support every community across Pennsylvania, providing a trusted connection to resources they need when it matters most.
