PA 211’s Critical Role in Supporting Our Community During the Water Advisory
In response to the recent water advisory issued by Pennsylvania American Water, PA 211 swiftly took action to assist community members who faced difficulties accessing bottled water.
Understanding the needs of those with disabilities, seniors, and individuals without transportation, PA 211 worked closely with Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) to respond. Community members and volunteers reacted quickly after 42,000 water customers in the area were impacted by low pressure or lack of water services due to a water main break in Cumberland County.
For our role, PA 211 coordinated 113 bottled water deliveries throughout the weekend. Our team of Resource Navigators worked diligently to confirm delivery locations and ensure that those most in need received timely assistance. This effort was crucial in preventing potential hardships for those who were unable to collect water from distribution sites.
PA 211’s quick and effective response highlights our commitment to serving the community during challenging times. By coordinating these deliveries, we ensured that the most vulnerable residents had access to essential resources. As cleanup efforts continue across Commonwealth from the remnants of Tropical Storm Debby, PA 211 remains dedicated to supporting our community and connecting individuals with the help they need.
