UWP In Partnership With Labor Launches Texting Initiative To Support Government Employees
United Way of Pennsylvania, in partnership with PA 2-1-1, PA AFL-CIO, and AFGE District 3, are launching an initiative January 17th, 2018 to support federal government employees and contractors who are impacted by the partial federal government shutdown.
This initiative will be available throughout the shutdown. UWP has launched a text code which, when individuals sign up, will authorize 2-1-1 to push information and updates to them that will help them cope with the shutdown. This is in addition to 2-1-1’s core work of connecting people in need to basic needs such as assistance with food, utilities, housing, etc. The text code is FEDSD and it is currently active and will be active throughout the shutdown.
When FEDSD is texted to 898-211 it will direct them to a Government Shutdown Resource Page housed on UWP’s mobile responsive site. Texts will also be sent daily Monday through Friday pointing to specific resources and to 2-1-1 if their need is urgent.
